About
Our Luxury wax melts are made with the finest soy wax, Organic botanicals and evocative fragrances made quite simply.. for the Gods.
This range has been inspired by Deities across the World. The botanicals and fragrances have been carefully chosen to pay homage to the Deity it marks. The old ways are often respected and still held with many a witch, Wiccan and pagan. Spirituality has evolved over time, whilst some beings have lasted the test of time. For this reason we wanted to do something special with our wax melt range and create them around the Gods.
Each box holds its own unique experience with a signature scent that will open your mind to the Deity it represents. 7 handcrafted melts are packaged in a biodegradable bag to preserve their scent, they are then sealed with a sticker.
Loki - Norse God
Loki was known as a trickster and shapeshifter mostly however that is the surface of Loki. when you scratch the surface you will discover a diety who is adaptable and strong minded. often described as the companion of Thor and Odin, Loki would often help them by forming clever plans but equally was known as an enemy of the gods. once example given was of Loki entering the Gods banquet uninvited and demanding their drink. He was the principal cause of the death of the god Balder and was bound to a rock as punishment. Like Prometheus, Loki is considered a god of fire.
Loki helps both the gods and the giants, depending on which course of action is most pleasurable and advantageous to him at the time, he often runs afoul of societal expectations and tends to go against the grain. For this reason we feel Loki is a good Diety to call on when you wish to put yourself first. Loki has shapeshifted into a horse before, during which time he became pregnant and delivered a foal. This is yet another example of how Loki breaks stereotypes and goes against the norm. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as often to elicit change for the good, moulds need to be broken.
Over the years, the meaning of Loki’s name has evaded most scholars to much puzzlement. Recently the philologist Eldar Heide may have solved this quenondrom. Heide highlights that Loki often appears in contexts likening him to a knot on string. This can be further argued as we see in later Icelandic usage, the common noun loki means “knot” or “tangle.”
Spiders metaphorically represent Loki due to their webs being seen to represent fish nets (which are made from a series of knots and loops) that Loki crafts in certain surviving Viking Age myths. With all this considered, Loki’s name could mean “Knot” or “Tangle.” This possible meaning of Loki’s name powerfully resonates with his role in Norse mythology in two ways. First, it points to his role as a maker of nets, both literal fish nets and metaphorical “nets” in the form of his cunning schemes that trap the gods in perilous situations. Second, it implies he is the “knot”, the fatal flaw or imperfection that brings demise, such as the demise of the Gods.
